Sir William Drake (1606-1669) was a wealthy landowner with estates in Buckinghamshire. He went to the Middle Temple in 1626, transferring in 1629 to Gray's Inn, and, since the late 1630's, held various posts at the Court of Common Pleas. He sat in Parliament for Amersham in 1640-1648 and again in 1660-1669. Sir William Drake was known as an avid book collector and patron of the arts.
